IP PBX Unified System for Paging and Access Control

Learn how to set up a full VoIP communication system with Wahsega's Diet PBX

The Wahsega Diet PBX is an advanced paging IP PBX hardware appliance that allows Wahsega customers to easily create a full VoIP communication system with Wahsega’s intercoms, paging adapters, IP phones, ceiling speakers as well as any third-party SIP compliant devices. The Diet PBX hardware appliance targets paging and access control intercom deployments in the education, correctional facilities, healthcare, industrial and manufacturing, office buildings and hospitality markets. The Diet PBX is a key component when combined with Wahsega’s paging, IP speakers and intercom offerings to form a complete solution for paging and access control intercom applications.

Since the Diet PBX is an embedded appliance, not an application running on a PC or a Linux platform, it allows for rapid, fully functional boot times of 10-20 seconds and has near zero risk of viruses, and it is impervious to all common hacking methods. It is also designed to operate at Industrial temperature extremes (-40C to +85C). With the Diet PBX’s built in DHCP Server, it allows for simple LAN islands for paging and intercoms without the cumbersome setup issues using VoIP devices in peer-to-peer mode with static IP addresses.

What makes the Diet PBX unique is its super set of paging functionality and ease of deployment capabilities.

The Wahsega 2x2 IP Ceiling Speaker is a PoE-powered drop-in IP ceiling tile speaker with SIP and Multicast Support for paging, built-in microphone, sound reinforcement, advanced panic button functionality, and door lock relays for classroom safety. This revolutionary speaker has the ability to power a second, auxiliary speaker up to 20 meters away via PoE cable. This auxiliary speaker performs all of the same functions as the first—without the need for an additional home run, drastically reducing overall labor and equipment costs.

With VoIP calls via SIP registration, the Wahsega speaker functions as a 2-way SIP intercom and also receives broadcast paging announcements via its multicast support, all from a single IP speaker.

Two onboard relays on the Wahsega 2x2 Ceiling Speaker enable emergency classroom lockdown by controlling door locks for up to two doors.

The IP ceiling speaker works with standard panic buttons. In addition, it provides advanced functionality to reduce the number of false alarm triggers from the panic button. With this advanced functionality, a brief button press places a call to one preconfigured number—such as the front office—while a longer press-and-hold will call a second, preconfigured panic number.

For larger classrooms where a second speaker is needed, the IP ceiling speaker has the ability to drive a second, lower-cost Wahsega analog speaker up to 20 meters away via Cat5e or Cat6 cable. Alternately, the two-classroom IP ceiling speaker can drive an auxiliary speaker in a second classroom. In a two-classroom configuration, the auxiliary speaker has all of the functionality of the first speaker, without an additional wiring home run.

With simple installation and advanced functionality, the Wahsega 2x2 IP Ceiling Speaker with SIP and Multicast paging support is perfect for any classroom application, large or small.
